Is the Grand Canyon Skywalk Worth It?

Is the Skywalk at the West Rim worth it on a day trip from Las Vegas: $20.50 more on the coach day or $32 between the gate passes, the phone and camera rule, and the free viewpoints.

Updated November 2026

The Skywalk is worth it if standing on glass over the drop is what you came for. It is not a better view: Eagle Point, where it is built, and Guano Point, with its view in every direction, are stops in every option of the coach day. What the Skywalk option adds is the glass underfoot, and on a tour it costs little: on Comedy on Deck Tours’ coach day it was $199.50 per adult against $179 without it on the dates we read before May 2027, a step of $20.50 that also buys a zipline. At the gate it is less clear-cut: Grand Canyon West prices its All-Access Pass, which lists the Skywalk, at $99 and its General Admission, which does not, at $67, but its ticket page lists the shuttle and the viewpoints only under the All-Access Pass and the Sunset Pass ($59, entry after 3:00 pm), and its FAQ says the All-Access Pass is required for all visitors (checked November 2026).

Powerd by GetYourGuide

In the calendar, the Skywalk is the second option. The calendar’s headline figure, $99 (checked November 2026), is the option without it on Saturdays from May 2027.

What the Skywalk is

The Skywalk is a horseshoe-shaped bridge with a glass floor that reaches out over the edge of the canyon at Eagle Point, on the West Rim. It belongs to the Hualapai Tribe, whose land the West Rim is, and it is outside Grand Canyon National Park; Grand Canyon West, the Tribe’s operation, sells the tickets. Eagle Point is named for the rock formation across from it, shaped like an eagle with its wings spread.

What you can take onto it

Phones, yes. Grand Canyon West’s FAQ says phones are permitted on the Skywalk, that you carry them at your own risk, and that you should not hold your arm out over the railing to take a picture. Cameras, purses, backpacks and similar belongings are not allowed on the glass bridge; free lockers are provided, and professional photos taken on the Skywalk can be bought afterwards (checked November 2026).

So a phone picture is the only one of your own you can take out there. If you came with a camera to photograph the canyon, Eagle Point and Guano Point are where you will use it.

The coach day’s step is smaller than the gap between the gate prices because the tour already pays your entry. The Tribe’s ticket page also says the Skywalk is “based on availability” and “attraction not guaranteed”, and its FAQ adds that wait times may vary with attendance (checked November 2026); on the coach day the guide hands you the Skywalk ticket in advance, so there is no ticket line at the canyon. Grand Canyon West also sells a Sunset Pass at $59, entry after 3:00 pm with the Skywalk, Eagle Point, Guano Point and the in-park shuttle (checked November 2026), which only helps if you drive there yourself.

Who it suits, and who can skip it

Book the Skywalk option if you want to stand out over the drop and you do not mind leaving your camera in a locker. On Comedy on Deck Tours’ day it adds the zipline as well, which makes the $20.50 good value for anyone who wanted both.

Skip it if you are uneasy with heights, if you want photographs you take yourself with a camera, or if your time at the rim is short and you would rather spend it at Guano Point. On the coach day you still stand at the edge of the same canyon at both viewpoints.
